FIELD: electrical communication engineering.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to communication engineering and can be used in optical communication systems. To this end, several standby state machines are introduced by using a user field programmable gate array (FPGA). Each standby automatic state machine independently performs operation under protocol of automatic switching to reserve (APS) for at least one reservation group, which is pre-connected with backup state machine. At least one reservation state table for recording the status of each reservation group is updated in accordance with the result of the APS protocol operation, and the cross-connection table for cross-connection of traffic between the communication units is updated in accordance with the reservation status table; wherein the updated cross-connection table is configured in a cross-connection chip such that the cross-connection chip cross-links the traffic in accordance with the updated cross-connection table.

EFFECT: technical result consists in providing switching with combination of reservation group, control device and optical communication device.
