FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: composition and method of invention relate to production of articles from high-density silicon carbide SiC/C/Si ceramics for various industries. Composition for producing carbon workpieces consists of carbon and organic binder, used as a carbon particulate artificial graphite density of 1.7 to 1.85 g/cm3 and a carbon nanotube, taken in quantity (wt. %): carbon nanotubes - from 1 to 10; mixture of graphite powders with particle size of 63–100 mcm - from 0 to 40 and with particle size of 100–135 mcm - from 85 to 45, organic binder - 15. To produce the carbon preform, particulate graphite powders are mixed and an organic binder containing carbon nanotubes, followed by moulding and/or compression at pressure of 50–80 kg/cm2. Binders are pyrolyzed in inert medium, machined to finished article and impregnated with silicon melt in vacuum furnace.

EFFECT: technical result consists in increase in the carbon workpieces siliconization depth, increase in the siliconized graphite articles size, increase in the siliconized graphite density, increase in the silicon carbide phase content.
