FIELD: optical devices.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to an optical sight of firearms, a telescope, a binocular, with a wide field of view (field-of-view, FOV) and a sighting grid (for example, cross hair, dots, etc.). Disclosed is a received optical image is processed to form an optical image of a wide field of view (FOV), displayed on display device. Indication is received to display the optical image of the increased PIP on the display device simultaneously with the optical image of the wide FOV. High-PIP optical image is formed to display a wide-size FOV from a central portion of a given size of the optical image and displayed on the display device simultaneously with the optical image of the wide FOV.
EFFECT: technical result is providing improved awareness of the situation using an enlarged picture in picture (picture-in-picture, PIP) inside optical image FOV.
