FIELD: technical processes.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to production of mud powders for barrier materials, drilling muds, molding mixtures and iron ore pellets. In a method of producing a barrier material comprising simultaneous grinding and drying a crushed clay material to obtain a given moisture by feeding an air stream into a milling zone, clay material used is a mixture with initial moisture content of 10–45 %, containing natural materials – kaolinite, bentonite and vermiculite, wherein grinding, drying and classification of clay material is carried out in a milling-drying unit comprising shelf classifiers by feeding a stream of hot air heated to temperature of 110–250 °C, wherein the process is continued until moisture content of the natural material mixture is 0.5–5 %, with subsequent mixing of granulometric fractions of mechanically activated mud powder in required proportions, until mixture of next granulometric composition is obtained, wt%: residue on sieve 1 – not more than 15, residue on sieve 0.5 – 10–30, residue on sieve 0.1 – 30–40, sieve 0.1 throughs – 30–60.
EFFECT: high efficiency of the process, wider range of using mud powders as sorbents and barrier materials, obtaining mud powders with high and stable quality.
