FIELD: oil-and-gas production, in particular, solid granulated materials used in hydrodynamic fracturing of formations in oil and gas production from wells. SUBSTANCE: method covers economically efficient technique of production of strong light-weight propping agent (with density of less than 3.0 g/cu.cm) from low-cost initial raw material used in the form of materials and wastes which contaminate the environment. Initial material is used in the form of ash of burnt brown and bituminous coals which are ground and mixed with one or more components selected from a series containing oxides of sodium, magnesium, calcium, barium, zinc, chromium, aluminum or salts of these metals, or minerals forming the above-indicated oxides during their heat treatment.
