SUBSTANCE: what is presented is a group of inventions involving compositions and methods for preventing and/or treating vitamin B12 deficiency. Disclosed are compositions based on bacteria Eubacterium hallii and/or Intestinimonas butyriciproducens. Compositions can contain a propionate-producing bacterium, such as Akkermansia muciniphyla.
EFFECT: said composition is applicable for administration to subjects suffering from vitamin B12 deficiency as a result of treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus, and to subjects suffering a bariatric surgical operation.
