FIELD: medical equipment.

SUBSTANCE: apparatus for generating nitrogen oxide comprises one or more pairs of electrodes; absorber located downstream of electrodes for filtration of at least nitrogen dioxide. Filter is located downstream of electrodes for filtering particles passing from electrodes and absorber. One or more sensors are configured to measure at least one of the following: gas flow rate, oxygen concentration upstream of the electrodes, concentration of nitrogen oxide downstream of the absorber and concentration of nitrogen dioxide downstream of the absorber. Controller is connected to electrodes and one or more sensors and is configured to supply electric signal to electrodes, which controls the spark formation moment and parameters of spark formation of electrodes. Sparking moment and parameters of spark formation of electrodes determine concentration of nitrogen oxide generated by electrodes. Disclosed are versions of a device for generating nitrogen oxide, intended for incorporation into a respiratory system, and a method of generating nitrogen oxide in a respiratory system, containing respiratory device communicating with patient's airways.

EFFECT: technical result is to provide the required concentration of nitrogen oxide to be delivered into the respiratory system for patient's inhalation.
