FIELD: lighting control.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to an exciter for controlling at least two sets of solid-state lighting elements. Result is achieved by switching capacitor power converter and switching device are used for selective connection of first set and second set of solid-state lighting elements in serial connection to output of power converter or connection of first set of solid-state lighting elements to power converter output without second set of solid-state lighting elements. First operating cycle of switched capacitor power converter and control of the second operating cycle of the switching device are both controlled. In this exciter structure, switching capacitor power converter and switching device are independently controlled using working cycle method. Switchable capacitor power converter is used to provide current control, and the switching device is used to control whether the second set of lighting elements is connected to the output or not.

EFFECT: reduced number of components to one active node and as a result reduced complexity of printed circuit board and reduced occupied area.
