SUBSTANCE: invention relates to driver device (50a-50f) and corresponding method for actuation of load (22), in particular LED unit, containing one or more LEDs (23). Result is achieved by fact that proposed driver device comprises power supply input pins (51, 52) for reception of rectified supply voltage (vr) from external power supply, power supply output leads (53, 54) to ensure voltage and/or excitation current supply to actuate load (22), half-bridge unit (70), having first (60) and second (61) switching elements connected in series between high voltage unit (57) and low voltage unit (58) and having switching unit (59) between said first and second switching elements, input up/down filter unit (71) containing first inductance coil (Lm) and series-connected diode (Dm) connected between power supply input lead (51, 52) and said half-bridge unit (70), step-down output filter unit (72), containing second inductance coil (Lo, Lc) connected between above half-bridge unit (70) and power supply output (53, 54), power accumulation unit (73) and unit (64) for controlling of said switching elements (60, 61).

EFFECT: driver device to actuate load, particularly LED unit, containing one or more LEDs, and, in particular, to provide for high power factor.
