FIELD: manufacturing technology.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of producing a coated polymer substrate having features of low emissivity and high hardness. Method includes steps of: obtaining a polymer substrate; application of one adhesive promoting layer, having thickness between 0.01 mcm and 0.1 mcm, on one side of said polymer substrate, said adhesion promoting layer comprising a metal oxide selected from titanium oxide, indium oxide, tin oxide, zinc oxide, indium tin oxide, niobium oxide, zirconium oxide, doped or undoped, and any mixture thereof, and wherein said adhesion promoting layer comprises an oxide layer having thickness between 0.02 mcm and 0.04 mcm; applying at least one layer of silicon dioxide or silicon dioxide based on said one adhesion promoting layer by means of a sol-gel process. Invention also relates to a coated polymer having a low emissivity property, to a glass base provided with a coated polymer substrate and use of such a coated substrate as a substrate having low emissivity properties.
EFFECT: invention improves adhesion of the coating to the polymer substrate, as well as high hardness, scratch resistance and low emissivity of the coated polymer substrate.
