SUBSTANCE: invention relates to catalysis. Described is a method of preparing a hydrotreating catalyst for diesel fuel, characterized in that the catalyst is prepared by impregnating a support containing, in terms of oxides of non-metals SiO2 – 0.1–20 wt.% and B2O3 – 0–10 wt.%, sodium – not more than 0.03 wt%, γ- and χ-Al2O3 – balance, wherein ratio of low-temperature forms of aluminum oxide χ-Al2O3 and γ-Al2O3 in support is (0–40):(100–60) wt%, with an aqueous solution simultaneously containing a mixture of complex compounds [Co(H2O)2(C6H5O7)]2[Mo4O11(C6H5O7)2], Co2[H2P2Mo5O23] and (NH4)4[Mo4(C6H5O7)2O11], followed by drying, wherein concentrations of solution components provide a catalyst which includes, wt.%: [Co(H2O)2(C6H5O7)]2[Mo4O11(C6H5O7)2] – 11.42–18.9, Co2[H2P2Mo5O23] – 12.1–22.6 and (NH4)4[Mo4(C6H5O7)2O11] – 3.25-4.73, carrier – balance; followed by sulphurisation and obtaining catalyst composition, wt.%: 11–14 Mo, 2–4 Co, 0.8–1.5 P, 9.0–11.4 S; carrier – balance; wherein carrier comprises, wt.%: SiO2 – 0.01–20.0 and B2O3 – 0–10; Al2O3 – balance.
EFFECT: increased activity of the catalyst.
