FIELD: chemistry; packaging and storage.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a polymer composition containing exfoliated hexagonal boron nitride, for example, for gas-impermeable materials, a method of producing said composition and use of the polymer composition. Polymer composition contains, for example, polyethylene terephthalate (PET) and exfoliated hexagonal boron nitride (h-BN). Method of producing a polymer composition, e.g. PET, comprises providing a reaction mixture, containing exfoliated hexagonal boron nitride (h-BN) and the first monomer or oligomer reagent, as well as polymerisation of the first monomer or oligomeric reagent. Invention also describes containers (e.g. bottles) made from polymer (e.g. PET) compositions containing exfoliated h-BN, as well as a method for reducing gas exchange between a sealed container and an external medium and a method of increasing storage life of a food product.
EFFECT: invention enables to obtain, for example, containers with improved characteristics, for example with lower gas permeability.
