FIELD: production of composite materials.

SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to a composition and a method for producing composite fibers coated with silicon dioxide for reinforcing concrete, as well as a method of reinforcing concrete and other construction materials using such fibers. Composite fiber for reinforcing concrete includes a plurality of glass fibers, where a plurality of glass fibers contains a monomer/oligomer coating to form coated fibers; and a plurality of silicon dioxide particles distributed over from about 5 % to about 85 % of the surface of the coated fibers. Also, there are described method of fiber manufacturing and concrete reinforcement method.

EFFECT: silicon dioxide particles provide an improved interface between composite fibers and the concrete matrix.
