FIELD: electrical equipment.

SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to a device for heating liquids, in particular to an electric kettle. Kettle (1) comprises housing (3) installed on electric heating base (8), and steam line (10) intended for direction of steam released during boiling to steam detection sensor. Steam pipeline has inlet (11) located above maximum level of filling the housing with water. Kettle also comprises device (20) for protection against water penetration into steam line (10) during boiling, which contains partition (21). When kettle (1) is filled to maximum filling level, baffle (21) is submerged into water sufficiently to divert upward flow of water and steam to center of kettle and, thus, protection of steam pipeline inlet (11) from water splashes. Distance between steam conduit opening (10) and water surface at maximum filling level can be reduced without risk of water penetration into steam line (10), that allows to limit the air volume over the open water surface.

EFFECT: as a result, kettle (1) can be more compact, in particular, in height, with optimum ratio of useful volume and total volume.
