FIELD: production of composite materials.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a coating consisting of a multilayer composite for use in a high-temperature environment as a barrier for protecting the content of said coating, as well as to methods of producing such composites. More specifically, the invention relates to a multilayer composite fuel coating for use in a reactor with a water, liquid metal or liquid salt cooler. Multilayer coating includes a combination of ceramic and metal components. This multilayer coating includes inner, intermediate and outer layers. Inner layer forms a coating structure, intermediate layer includes a ceramic composite or ceramic-containing composite consisting of interconnected woven or braided fibers, for example, bundles of fiber wrapped around inner layer to form woven structure, and matrix material; and outer layer consists of metal or metal alloy, for example, in form of coating.
EFFECT: invention provides a composite, which includes more than one material, each of which exhibits a different property of coating, specifically multilayer coating, which is effective for protecting content of coating structure from high-temperature environment.
