FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in production of sorbents, filters, catalyst supports and heat-resistant materials. To produce porous whiskers α-Al2O3 using lead-zinc production wastes, heat treatment of pre-moulded in form of cylinders of oxide-containing powders with aluminium. Heat treatment includes heating to temperature of 1150 °C, further holding the mixture at this temperature and cooling. Mixture is heated at rate of 20 °C per minute and held at a given temperature for 30 minutes. As a matrix for growth of whiskers there used are wastes of lead-zinc production of fraction 0.071 mm, containing, wt. %: 50.1 - SiO2, 12.1 - K2O, 11.1 - Al2O3, 9.3 - Fe2O3, 8.5 - SO3, 2.9 - TiO2, 1.9 - CaO, 1.4 - MgO, 0.9 - Cl, 0.47 - PbO, 0.3 - P2O5, 0.15 - ZnO.

EFFECT: invention eliminates need to use expensive materials for synthesis of porous whiskers α-Al2O3, reduce duration of the process.
