FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medical technologies, particularly to intracavitary, interstitial and superficial, intraluminal radiation therapy in treating oncological patients using contact radiation equipment. Irradiation method in contact radiation therapy involves a discrete movement of an ionizing radiation source in an applicator inserted into the irradiated cavity of the patient. Step of discrete movement of the radiation source from position to position shall be greater than the length of the radiation source and shall be in range of 10 to 25 mm.
EFFECT: technical result is an increase in the quality of radiation therapy and therapeutic effectiveness by increasing homogeneity of energy distribution of ionizing radiation on the depth of the irradiated target created by a discretely moving source of ionizing radiation in an applicator inserted into the irradiated cavity of the patient.
