SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine, namely to dentistry, and can be used for diagnosing anatomical and functional state of dentoalveolar complex. Maxillofacial area is examined using computed tomography and the position of the tongue in the sagittal and frontal planes is determined. Convex-ray computed tomography is used as a computer tomography. In the sagittal plane the distance from the points located on the palate mucosa from the apex of the posterior nasal spine is determined at distance of 10, 20 and 30 mm at the level of the median palatine suture to the tongue back. In frontal plane distance from lateral surfaces of tongue to palate mucosa is determined at level of perpendiculars drawn from above points on palate mucosa to tongue back. If these distances are 0–2 mm, the anatomical and functional state of the dentoalveolar complex is normal. If values are more than 2 mm, it exceeds the limits of normative indices.

EFFECT: method provides diagnostics of anatomical and functional state of dentoalveolar complex by determining position of tongue.
