FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine, namely to dentistry, radiation and instrumental diagnostics, and can be used for complex diagnostics of occlusion in patients. X-ray examinations are successively performed: head teleroentgenography (TRG) in the lateral projection followed by cephalometric analysis in Dolphin Imaging 37 program of linear and angular parameters, orthopantomography (OPTG), CT of the temporomandibular joint (CT of the TMJ) for detecting anatomical changes of the articular head, articular cavity and disturbed interrelation of bone structures. Based on OPTG, TRG and CT of TMJ, presence or absence of anatomical changes in bone structures is stated and preliminary diagnosis is made. That is followed by an electromyography (EMG) of the head and neck muscles to examine their own bioelectric potentials, function of temporal, chewing, supra-hyoid and sternocleidomastoid muscles is assessed, which allows evaluating the muscular complex of occlusion and completing the diagnosis with functional disorders. That is followed by kinesiology of the lower jaw – graphical recording of lower jaw motions when performing samples in three planes: sagittal, frontal, horizontal. Trajectory of the lower jaw, its amplitude, speed, deviations when opening and closing the mouth, swallowing, movement of the lower jaw forward and sidewise are evaluated. Based on data interpretation of OPTG, TRG, CT of TMJ, EMG of muscles of head and neck and kinesiology of lower jaw, final diagnosis is made considering all violations in components of occlusion.
EFFECT: method provides the final diagnosis in a short period of time, taking into account anatomical and functional disorders of the occlusion, making an integrated treatment plan and reducing the percentage of complications and recurrences.
