FIELD: fuel industry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of dissolving nuclear fuel, in particular spent nuclear fuel, involving immersion of nuclear fuel in nitric acid solution. Dissolution method further includes mechanical grinding of nuclear fuel, wherein said mechanical grinding is carried out in a solution of nitric acid during immersion. Invention also relates to use of crusher with mechanical grinding means for implementation of dissolution method.
EFFECT: invention ensures constant activation of surface of nuclear fuel particles, facilitating their dissolution in nitric acid solution.
