FIELD: optics.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to generation of data representing a light field. Method for generating data representing a volume in an object space of an optical detection system, occupied by a set of light beams, which at least one pixel of the sensor of said optical detection system can read through the pupil of said optical detection system, wherein said volume is called a pixel beam, comprises steps of: obtaining, from light field data captured by an optical detection device, intersection data specifying the intersection of the light field beam, representing a pixel beam with a plurality of said reference planes, wherein said reference planes correspond to different depths in the object space; obtaining beam diagram parameters specifying graphical representation of intersection data on four-dimensional beam diagram; and associating said beam pattern parameters with parameters specifying a pixel beam to provide data representative of the pixel beam.

EFFECT: technical result is the light field data formatting to ensure their compact storage and efficient processing.
