FIELD: machine building.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to engine building, particularly, to transport diesel engines operating at idling and variable loads for a considerable amount of time. Disclosed is a diesel comprising a combustion chamber, where air and fuel is supplied, and injector 5 with a hydraulic seal. Hydraulic seal of nozzle is formed by hydraulic locking channel 17 made in form of cavity on contactless surface of needle 9 located between precision contact surfaces 15, 16 of needle, wherein due to said hydraulic seal, fuel supply is increased by nozzle at low loads and idle operation conditions. Also disclosed is a method of operating said diesel engine.
EFFECT: technical result of proposed technical solution is higher efficiency, longer service life of engine and reduced content of harmful emissions during operation.
