SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of producing a conjugated diene, involving a dehydration step γ,δ-unsaturated alcohol in presence of solid acid catalyst, having a Hammett acidity function (H0) −12.2 or less, where the acid catalyst is a metal oxide supported on sulfuric acid, selected from sulphated tin (IV) oxide (SO4/SnO2, H0=−18.0), sulphated zirconium dioxide (SO4/ZrO2, H0=−16.1), sulphated hafnium oxide (SO4/HfO2, H0=−16.0), sulphated titanium dioxide (SO4/TiO2, H0=−14.6), sulphated aluminum oxide (SO4/Al2O3, H0=−14.6), sulphated iron (III) oxide (SO4/Fe2O3, H0=−13.0) and sulphated silicon dioxide (SO4/SiO2, H0=−12.2).
EFFECT: method provides good yield under mild conditions.
