FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine, namely to neurosurgery, and can be used for determining haemodynamic significance of internal carotid artery stenosis. Additionally, duplex scanning of pre-cerebral arteries is performed, diameter and linear velocity of blood flow is measured and blood flow index in them is calculated as product of cross-section of each artery by weighted average linear velocity of blood flow in it. If the blood flow index in the ipsilateral internal carotid artery is less than 170 ml/min, in the contralateral internal carotid artery is more than 280 ml/min, in the ipsilateral vertebral artery and/or external carotid artery more than 120 ml/min and 190 ml/min respectively stenosis of the internal carotid artery is considered hemodynamically significant.
EFFECT: method enables non-invasive assessment of volume blood flow in precerebral arteries in physiological conditions and its changes depending on the manifestation of ICA stenosis by evaluating a set of the most significant values.
