FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to metallurgy, namely to methods of processing powder materials using electron-beam surfacing processes, and can be used to form hardening and wear-resistant coatings on the surface of metal articles. Method of forming ceramic coating on metal surface of article with electron-beam surfacing includes surfacing of powder material in zone of fusion of surface of article created by electron beam and moved along surface of article. Powder material used is a ceramic powder mixed with an organic binder, which is applied on a surface of a metal article, is placed in a vacuum chamber and inert gas is fed to pressure of 5-30 Pa, then ceramic powder is surfaced on article surface moving with constant speed along preset trajectory with electron beam with power of up to 5 kW and electron energy of 15-30 keV, focused to diameter of up to 0.8 mm.
EFFECT: simplified composition of powder mixture and reduced flow rate during electron-beam surfacing of ceramic coating on metal.
