FIELD: various technological processes.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to methods of producing a highly active sorbent from agricultural plant wastes, namely from beet pulp, which can be used when treating waste water. Method involves dehydration and carbonisation, wherein the raw material used is granulated beet pulp, which is dehydrated at 105–120°C for 2.5–4 hours, heated in an oxygen-free medium at rate of 10–24°C/min to temperature of 500±20°C, held at this temperature for 6–8 minutes and cooled in an oxygen-free medium to 60-80°C at rate of 3-10 °C/min. Finished product has large (2.2 cm3/g) total pore volume with low (0.09 g/cm3) bulk density, relatively large (28%) output and relatively large (0.24 cm3/g) volume pores sorbing hydrocarbons.
EFFECT: invention increases total pore volume characterizing sorption activity of beet pulp sorbent.
