SUBSTANCE: The invention relates to a method for producing a sorbent based on natural carbon material, which can be used in medicine, veterinary medicine, pharmacy, food industry, and also for solving environmental problems due to its high sorption activity with respect to heavy metal ions. A method is presented for obtaining a modified sorbent from the waste of a cedar cone, including crushing of vegetable raw materials, its modification, filtration of the sorbent, washing, characterized in that dried wastes of a cedar cone are used as vegetable raw materials, modification of vegetable raw materials is carried out in aqueous solutions of sodium hydroxide or Trilon B or pectin.

EFFECT: invention provides for the production of a modified sorbent from the waste of a cedar cone, which has an increased adsorption capacity for copper(II), cadmium(II), nickel(II), lead(II), cobalt(III), iron(III) and chromium(III) ions .
