FIELD: food industry.
SUBSTANCE: method of producing partially hydrolysed keratin-containing material involves steps (1) carrying out hydrolysis of a feedstock in the presence of water while heating and at a pressure of about 2 bar to about 15 bar, and (2) obtaining the material obtained by simultaneous drying and grinding in a vortex mill at approximately atmospheric pressure such that reduced pepsin digestibility and/or ileum digestibility is less than 10 %, and/or pepsin digestibility and ileum digestibility are maintained at the level of more than 75 % and 80 % respectively, where the obtained material contains a partially insoluble material, and wherein the average particle size of the product, measured as d50, ranges from about 20 mcm to about 0.7 mm, and d90 is less than about 1 mm.
EFFECT: method ensures production of a product with high efficiency of the process, reduced risk of contamination of the dried product with microorganisms and improved characteristics, namely size and color.
