SUBSTANCE: inventions relate to installation (1) for transportation of people, as well as method of modernization of existing plant for transportation of people. Plant for transportation of people has several stepped blocks (17), comb-like plate (27), control device (49) and marking device (45). Step blocks in normal operating mode next to each other must move along specified path (29) of movement. Comb-shaped plate relative to preset path (29) of movement is located in the unchanged position. Control device is installed in order to monitor actual position of actual controlled stepped unit relative to preset path (29) of movement and determine actual position deviation from preset movement path (29) by more than one possible tolerance value and, based on this, activate marking device. Marking device is installed so that at its activation it is possible to supply the actual controlled stepped unit and/or the stepped block with marking (57) with the topically controlled stepped unit in the certain spatial ratio.

EFFECT: due to this, on one side, collisions between stepped block and comb-shaped plate can be prevented, and on the other side, step-by-step blocks subject to collision risk, due to marking applied on them by marking device, can be quickly and easily recognized by service personnel.
