FIELD: escalators.
SUBSTANCE: spatial image of a section of a rotating canvas is created, an area of a spatial image is selected, the selected area is compared with a comparison area. The comparison area is defined by three-dimensional coordinates and is a virtual space that can be uniquely assigned to the selected area. An alarm signal is generated if the selected area, going beyond the predetermined boundaries, differs from the comparison area. The comparison area is assigned to the selected area using reference marks corresponding to the stationary components of the escalator or travolator, and these reference marks can be identified both in the spatial image and in the corresponding comparison area. An escalator has also been proposed.
EFFECT: high intensity of control and high operational reliability are achieved.
