FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a device for holding charged particles, particularly, to obtaining and retaining high-temperature plasma and can be used to create neutron radiation sources. Device includes a vacuum chamber, a set of current coils located on the surface enclosing the central area of the device and connected in such a way that, when the current flows, the like poles of the magnetic field generated by each of the said coils are directed to the centre of the device, as well as electrodes located on axial power lines of magnetic flux generated when current flows through coils. In such magnetic field the negative volumetric charge of electrons promotes retention of positive ions.
EFFECT: technical result is reduced losses of plasma electrons and longer time for holding charged particles in trap.
