FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: neutral particle beam based on negative ions contains an ion source, an accelerator and a neutraliser in order to form a beam of neutral particles of approximately 5 MW with energy of approximately 0.50–1.0 MeV. Ions formed by ion source, before being accelerated before injection into high energy accelerator by means of electrostatic pre-accelerator based on multi-aperture grid, which is used to draw ion beams from plasma and accelerate to some fraction of required beam energy. Beam from the ion source passes through a pair of deflecting magnets which enable the beam to displace along the axis before reaching the high energy accelerator. After acceleration to full energy, the beam enters the neutraliser, in which it is partially converted into a beam of neutral particles. Remaining types of ions are separated by means of a magnet and directed to converters of electrostatic energy. Beam of neutral particles passes through the shut-off valve and enters the plasma chamber.
EFFECT: technical result is increase of injector energy efficiency.
