FIELD: oil and gas industry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a coated article and a method for production thereof. Coated article comprises a substrate and a self-repair coating deposited on the surface of the substrate, having a solid metal matrix formed from Ni, Cu, Ag, Au, Sn, Fe, In, W, Ti, Co, Al, Mg, Cr, Mo, or their alloys, or a combination, and a plurality of micro- or nanosized particles dispersed in a solid metal matrix. Micro- or nanosized particles have a core and shell structure, containing an active agent encapsulated in a micro- or nanosized shell of a metal container. Metal container and solid metal matrix have at least one common metal. Micro- or nanosized particles have average particle size of about 100 nm to about 100 mcm, and the micro- or nanosized shell of the metal container has a thickness of about 10 nm to about 50 nm. If the coating is damaged, the active agent is released and provides the self-repair effect of the coating, increasing the service life of the products and improving their reliability.
EFFECT: disclosed are self-healing coatings for oil and gas applications.
