FIELD: precision instrument making.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to precision instrumentation and can be used in designing gyrocompasses of analytical type. Essence of the claimed invention is as follows. Two discrete rotations of the sensitivity axis of the angular velocity sensor (AVS) are performed at a given angle relative to the plane of the local meridian, providing low-frequency filtering of the AVS output signal in each position of the AVS sensitivity axis, signals obtained in adjacent angular positions are subtracted, determining the ratio of the difference obtained after the second rotation of the sensitivity axis of the AVS to the difference obtained after the first rotation of the sensitivity axis of the AVS, a nonlinear relationship is formed, as a result of which, by iterative methods, the angle of the initial position of the axis of sensitivity of the AVS relative to the plane of the local meridian is determined.
EFFECT: simplified determination of the local meridian direction using the AVS.
