SUBSTANCE: invention relates to centrifugal separator operation method and centrifugal separator. Method of centrifugal separator (1) operation is carried out due to that centrifugal separator (1) comprises rotor assembly (2), unit (5) of electric power drive and consumer (12), wherein rotor assembly (2) has rotation axis (X) and comprises spindle (4) and separator drum (11), wherein rotation axis (X) is vertical axis (X) of rotation, and wherein drive assembly (5) is connected to spindle (4) or forms part thereof, and wherein centrifugal separator (1) comprises generator (14) for generating electric current, wherein the method includes steps of: rotating (102) rotor assembly (2) about an axis (X) of rotation using drive assembly (5), continuously generating (104) current using generator (14) during a complete revolution of assembly (2) of the rotor during the step, on which rotor assembly (2) is rotated (102), electric current is supplied (106) to electric energy consumer (12) located in rotor assembly (2), using current generated during the stage, on which current is continuously generated (104), wherein generator (14) comprises magnetic element (22) located stationary in centrifugal separator (1), wherein magnetic element (22) is configured to create a magnetic field extending across rotation axis (X), wherein magnetic element (22) comprises at least one electromagnet, wherein method (100) further includes step of (108) controlling current supplied to said at least one electromagnet to vary the intensity of magnetic field generated by said at least one electromagnet.

EFFECT: technical result is higher stability of operating conditions for various consumers of electric energy.
