FIELD: machine building.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to centrifugal separators and, in particular, to centrifugal separator having system for ventilation of space around centrifugal rotor. Centrifugal separator for separation of at least two components of a mixture of fluid medium, having different densities, comprises: fixed frame, a drive element configured to rotate the rotating part relative to the fixed frame, the rotating part comprises a spindle and a centrifugal rotor enclosing the separation space, centrifugal rotor is installed on spindle with possibility of its rotation together with spindle around axis (X) of rotation, rotating part is supported by fixed frame by means of at least one support device, fixed frame surrounds centrifugal rotor, thereby forming rotor space between fixed frame and centrifugal rotor, and wherein the fixed frame comprises at least one first air inlet configured to provide fluid communication to the rotor space, and at least one first air outlet configured to provide communication of the fluid to the outside of the rotor space, wherein at least one first air inlet and at least a first air outlet are made in the fixed frame so as to provide air flow from at least one first air inlet to at least one first air outlet and to the outside through by rotation of said rotating part, and wherein at least one first air inlet is configured to be connected to the air source, and wherein at least one first air outlet is configured to discharge air from the rotor space, wherein the centrifugal separator is characterized by that it additionally comprises at least one sensor configured to detect a parameter relating to concentration of flammable gas in air in the rotor space.

EFFECT: invention provides a centrifugal separator having a convenient ventilation system and having a reduced risk of explosion during processing of the flammable fluid medium.
