SUBSTANCE: invention relates to device for aerosol generation and method of such device control. Device for aerosol generation comprises a housing in which a cigarette is inserted, and a controller which controls operation of the aerosol generation device, cap connected to upper part of housing with possibility of disconnection from it, cover located on upper surface of cap and made with possibility of opening or closing hole for installation of cigarette, sensor configured to determine open or closed state of hole for installation of cigarette, and a button configured to receive commands from a user in accordance with user manipulations. When determining that the hole for cigarette installation is open, preliminary heating of the device for aerosol generation is performed after the command supplied through the button pressed during the period of the pre-determined first duration of pressing. When determining that the hole for installing the cigarette is closed, preliminary heating of the device for aerosol generation is not carried out even when the command is sent through a button pressed during a period of a predetermined first duration of pressing.

EFFECT: prevention of undesired operation of the device due to accidental button pressing and prevention of unnecessary energy consumption when the user does not smoke.
