FIELD: engine building.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to engine building, namely, to end seals of rotary-piston internal combustion engine, and can be used in production of friction elements of end seals, sealing gap between rotating parts in housings of apparatus, machines and mechanisms containing working medium under pressure. Said face seal comprises a pair of friction of rotating and non-rotating elements in contact with each other by end surfaces with different hardness. Fixed elements of the friction pair are made from reaction-sintered silicon carbide with surface hardness of 90-94 HRC. Rotary elements are made of rhenium, chrome and vanadium alloyed titanium carbonitride with hardness of 86-90 HRC. Fixed elements of the friction pair have a surface finish purity of 0.32-0.08 mcm while the movable elements have a surface roughness of 0.63-0.16 mcm.
EFFECT: higher durability of the tribological pair, as well as simplification of the technology of manufacturing elements of the friction pair, wherein the friction elements have high strength, hardness, wear resistance and low friction coefficient.
