FIELD: process engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to cutting tool made from aluminium oxide-based ceramics, particularly, to ceramic cutting tool. Cutting tool comprises aluminium oxide-based substrate and one or several cover Al-Ti-Cr-based nitride layers on substrate. Note here that one or several cover Al-Ti-Cr-based nitride layers on substrate are AlwTixCrγSizCvN1-v, with W+X+Y+Z=1 and V= 0 to less than 1. Aluminium oxide-based substrate comprises aluminium oxide, 5 to 80 vol. % of metal carbonitride and from 0.01 to 10 vol. % of one or several metal oxides. Note also that metal forming said metal carbonitride and metal oxide are selected from group consisting of elements of III to VI groups including La and Ac groups of periodic table, Mg and Co.
EFFECT: wear resistant coat with higher mechanical properties in high-speed cutting.
