FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to metallurgy and can be used for thermal processing of workpieces of drills, cutters, cold-head tooling and other cutting tools made from high-speed steels. Method of heat treatment of blanks from high-speed steel includes high-temperature thermal cyclic treatment by heating and cooling in a salt bath. High-temperature thermal cyclic treatment is carried out in 3-5 thermocycles, wherein thermal cycling involves heating to temperature Acm +(300-330 °C), holding for 4-5 seconds per 1 mm of thickness of workpiece, cooling to temperature Ar1 -(30-50 °C) and holding for 30 min, further heating to Acm +(300-330 °C), wherein after each thermal cycle double annealing is carried out first by holding in a salt bath at temperature Ar1 -(20-40 °C), and then by heating to temperature Ac1 +(30-50 °C) and cooling to temperature Ar1 - (20-40 °C).
EFFECT: higher mechanical properties of high-speed steels.
