FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of producing a spherical alumina support, involving preparation of a mixture of powders of aluminium hydroxide, suspending, peptizing the solution with nitric acid, moulding pellets, drying and calcining, wherein the mixture is prepared containing aluminium hydroxide as 60–70 wt.% of a high-boehmite, having a pore volume of 0.9–1.1 cm3/g, and 30–40 wt. % low-porous pseudo-boehmite, having a pore volume of 0.5 cm3/g, or a mixture containing aluminium hydroxide as 60–70 wt. % of a high-boehmite, having a pore volume of 0.9–1.1 cm3/g and a boehmite mesoporous having pore volume 0.7 cm3/g, and 30–40 wt. % pseudoboehmite low porosity having a pore volume of 0.5 cm3/g, or a mixture containing aluminium hydroxide as 60–70 wt. % of a mixture of highly porous boehmite, having a pore volume of 0.9–1.1 cm3/g, and 30–40 wt.% pseudoboehmite low porosity having a pore volume of 0.5 cm3/g, is suspended with water, to give pseudo-sol peptized, it is stirred, water is added and making methylcellulose in amount of 10–20 wt. %, based on the calcined oxide aluminium, mixed until homogeneous, and the spherical granules are formed by hydrocarbon-ammonium moulding, before drying the granules are held in air for 22-26 hours.

EFFECT: technical result consists in increase of content of high-porous components in aluminium oxide carrier and strength of granules of carrier.
