FIELD: defectoscopy.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used for ultrasonic flaw detection and thickness gauging of various articles from metal, plastic and other materials. Essence of the invention lies in the fact that the industrial contact medium contains a polyatomic alcohol in a certain ratio, ethyl ether of mono- or diethylene glycol, a rheological modifier, an alkali metal salt, a corrosion inhibitor, preserving agents and water.
EFFECT: creation of an industrial contact medium, which provides reliable acoustic contact with the analyzed object, has optimum viscosity at different speeds of movement of the ultrasonic transducer, has low corrosive activity and is environmentally safe, and also maintains its properties in a wide range of operating temperatures.
