FIELD: measuring equipment.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to measurement equipment and can be used for experimental studies of flammability of protective coatings. Disclosed device is a testing machine consisting of a combustion chamber fixed on supports. Device operates as follows. Burner is ignited, gas flow rate (l/min) is established, which ensures uniform heating in combustion chamber, with gradual decrease of temperature along chamber length. Test specimen is installed on the turning platform of the movable mechanism and fixed with a holder. Rotation of rotary platform makes it possible to vary angle of impact of fire on tested coating. Movable mechanism with the test sample is installed inside the combustion chamber at a certain distance to the burner fire. Then, the stopwatch is switched on and the time to ignition/self-ignition of the tested coating is counted. At the moment of ignition/self-ignition of the coating, the temperature in the combustion zone (flue gas/flame temperature) is recorded on the temperature measurement sensor, the distance to the fire is determined, then, resistance of the tested coating and duration of its independent burning are determined. After the specimen has cooled down and is removed from the rotary platform, the weight loss of the sample and the volume of its damage are determined.

EFFECT: higher efficiency of tests for fire resistance of protective coatings due to possibility of determining duration of coating resistance to fire, temperature and moment of ignition of the tested coating, distance from the tested coating to fire.
