FIELD: electricity.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to electric power supply systems. Disclosed is an input / output device with a computing module, which includes information on primary equipment and names of functions of protecting, monitoring and controlling operation of primary equipment, computer module searches for automation or protection devices located in one local-computer network, through which the input / output device is monitoring the state of automation devices having protection, monitoring and control functions. In case of failure of automatic device and loss of device by means of input / output device, fact of loss of automation or protection device is established. Further, for each said function, which was performed by the faulty automation device, the following actions are performed in sequence: action "a" – by means of an additional computing module of the input / output device, the value of the penalty function is requested from the found automation or protection devices through their additional computing modules to perform functions which provide protection, monitoring and control of primary equipment; performing the action "b" - by means of additional computing modules of each automation or protection device, which received the request, sending to the additional computing module of the input / output device the value of the penalty function for execution of the requested protection, monitoring and control function, wherein value of penalty function is determined based on criteria for loading hardware resources of automation device and requirements of industry standard documentation on permissibility of combination of functions in one automation device; action "c" - by means of input-output device on the basis of obtained values of penalty functions of protection, monitoring and control function selection of automation or protection device with the least value of penalty function and transmitting to it by means of additional computing modules a command to start corresponding protection, monitoring or control function; action "d" - by means of additional computer module of automation or protection device, which received command, starts corresponding protection, monitoring and control function in automation or protection device and transmitting to the additional computing unit of the input / output device a message on the successful start of the function; action "e" - by means of additional computing module of input-output device, received message, specified in point "d", is repeated sequence of actions specified in actions "a", "b", "c", "d" for other protection functions, monitoring and control.

EFFECT: claimed invention is aimed at reducing the number of equipment for performing protection and automation functions while maintaining the required level of reliability of the automated system.
