SUBSTANCE: invention relates to sealing elements from swelling metal and methods of formation of seal in borehole with the help of said sealing elements from swelling metal. Exemplary method includes providing a sealing member of a swellable metal selected from a group consisting of a sealing ring, a gasket or a sealing pack; wherein said swellable metal sealing element is arranged inside or around downhole tool arranged in borehole. Method further includes exposure of a saturated mineral solution to a sealing element from a swellable metal and enabling or enabling swelling of a sealing element from a swellable metal.
EFFECT: described swelling metal for non-elastomeric O-rings.
