SUBSTANCE: invention relates to controlling power supply of displays of mobile communication devices, specifically monitoring on-on and off-state screen conditions and user equipment for mobile communication with such a function. To this end, a method of monitoring on and off states of a screen comprises stopping a long-channel infrared (IR) determination function when determining distance using a long-range IR detection function and achieving a temporary switching condition for the near-channel IR detection function and activation for determining the near-channel IR detection function distance, and performing monitoring of switched on and off states of the screen of user equipment of mobile communication based on the results of operation of the near-channel IR detection function. Transmission power of the IR beam of light, which corresponds to the function of long-range IR detection, exceeds the transmission power of the light beam IR corresponding to the near-channel IR detection function.
EFFECT: technical result is enabling more accurate monitoring of switched on and off states of the screen of user equipment of mobile communication owing to higher accuracy of determining the distance IR by the distance determining system.
