SUBSTANCE: invention can be used for ion beam modulation. Essence of the invention is that the ion source is also configured to output a negative ion beam into the tandem accelerator system downstream of the ion source and a modulator system connected to the pulling electrode of the ion source, is configured to apply bias voltage to the pulling electrode for a duration sufficient to maintain stability of the accelerating voltage of the tandem accelerator system.

EFFECT: enabling reduction of ion beam power for safety and preservation of neutron-beam system equipment while maintaining efficiency of treatment.
