SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in the internal combustion engines fuel supply systems. Disclosed is a marine power plant comprising an internal combustion engine 50 for driving a ship, comprising combustion chamber 52 for burning fossil fuel, electrolysis chamber 20 for generating hydrogen gas and gaseous oxygen and vacuum pump 25 for pumping gaseous hydrogen and gaseous oxygen from electrolysis chamber 20. Hydraulic power plant comprises gas generator 30 configured to convert volatile organic compounds, in particular methanol or ethanol, into a gaseous form, as well as supply pipeline 38 for supply of gas mixture to combustion chamber 52, wherein gas mixture contains volatile organic compounds converted into gaseous form, as well as at least part of gaseous hydrogen and gaseous oxygen. Besides, the corresponding method of marine power plant operation is proposed.
EFFECT: invention allows increasing engine efficiency and reducing emissions of harmful substances with exhaust gases.
