FIELD: wireless communication systems.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to wireless communication systems, in particular, to improved codebook subset restriction (CBSR) signaling. An approximate method (300) for codebook subset restriction in user equipment (102) (UE) is presented. In an approximate way, UE (102) can take from a network node (106) such as gNB, the codebook subset restriction (CBSR) signaling for the first component (128), common to the pre-coders in the first group of codebooks (118). In terms of revealing the essence, the limitation of the first component (128) is transformed into a restriction of the second component, and the second component (130) is common to the pre-coders in the second group of codebooks (120). Additionally, the approximate method includes limiting the pre-coders coders selected from the codebooks in the second group of codebooks (120) on the basis of the second component (130). Methods on the network side are presented, as well as approximate UE (102) and network nodes (106).

EFFECT: implementation of new mechanisms required in the NR for codebook restriction of co-phasing and rank.
