SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to the technology of manufacturing ceramic proppants intended for use as proppants in oil or gas production by hydraulic fracturing. The method for the manufacture of magnesium silicate proppant includes calcining the magnesian silicate rock, its joint grinding with silica raw material to a state in which at least 90% of the particles have a size of less than 20 microns, granulating the resulting charge, roasting and screening the fired granules. Amorphous siliceous rocks - diatomites, tripoli, flasks or their combinations in an amount from 18% to 27% by weight of the raw mixture - are used as siliceous raw materials. In the process of grinding, a plasticizing moisturizing additive is added in the form of a suspension of clay and lignosulfonate, then, when grinding and / or granulating the resulting plasticized raw mixture of the charge, it is mixed with a dry binder mineral additive. The composition for the manufacture of magnesia-silicate proppant includes, wt%: raw mixture 75.0-78.0, including: magnesia-silicate rock 54.0-64.5 and amorphous silica rock 13.5-21.0; a binder additive in the form of plastic kaolinite clay 10-12; and a plasticizing additive (dry matter) 2.0-4.5, including: plastic kaolinite clay - 1.5-3.0, lignosulfonate - 0.5-1.5.

EFFECT: increased strength and fracture toughness of proppant.
